about

The premiere of this music took place at sunset on June 21, 2019 in the courtyard of The Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Center in Kyiv, as a special event within the Mute Nights Festival - 9th International Festival of Silent Film and Contemporary Music. This programm is a performance-singing of the solstice, a kind of futuristic Ivan Kupala. All the music that was played in this concert was performed by me on my own instruments - 10 and 8 string MIDI Radz-guitars using a guitar-synthesizer and automated sound processing devices. The concert was accompanied by live-VJ Alina Kostikova. Unfortunately, the original audio recording of the concert was done with a significant overload of sound, which made it unsuitable for release. This prompted me to make a completely identical recording of the bulk of the music featured in this album. This was done later in the KORA art cube in July and August 2019. In order to convey the feeling that accompanied me during the concert, at the end of the disc I added live applause, which ended the same concert. The concert took place in two part and was accompanied by a detailed brochure, the contents of which I give here. My original compositions, written from 2009 to 2018, have been specially adapted for my new sound processing devices, thus finding a new life and fresh sound. The framework of this program is the works of American minimalist composers John Cage and Steve Reich. I have done transcriptions of these pieces for the 10-string MIDI Radz-guitar in different years, but I have performed them publicly for the first time at this concert. John Cage's pieces "In a Landscape" and "Dream" were made by me with the midi capabilities of my guitar and an external piano sampler. In the third part of Steve Reich's "Electric Counterpoint", a phonogram with the sound of 10 pre-recorded guitars was conducted by me in the winter of 2015.
